Reiki & Healing Touch Sessions                  2008 Financial Review

  • Provided 598 hours of weekly Healing Touch and Reiki sessions for 52 individuals with cancer.  Of those served 62% were considered low-income by federal standards
  • Provided 260 Reiki and Healing Touch mini-sessions at health fairs and cancer events.  Of those, over 20% were nurses and other health care professionals

  • Initial findings: Participants rated their primary issue (pain, fatigue, etc) at first and twelfth sessions

  • On a scale of 1-10 (10 is excellent) Participants gave LifeSpark a 9.5 overall quality rating

  • Conducted two New Provider Seminars   Trained 17 new Reiki and Healing Touch providers for service in LifeSpark
  • Continued monthly Growth and Connections education and support meetings with professional content and speakers 
  • Video: Rocky Mountain PBS donated the production of an updated video.  The video is 8 minutes long and includes interviews with individuals in our program, donors, volunteers and medical personnel.  It was created to educate the public about LifeSpark and to encourage donations and participation PSA: LifeSpark created a 30 second video to be aired on local television stations in 09
  • Healing Touch International’s Perspectives in Healing featured a two page article about LifeSpark 
  • Held first annual Day of Gratitude event to thank volunteers and donors  75 people attended Over 100 volunteers & donors recognized for service over past 5 years.
  • Awarded first annual Volunteer of the Year to Bev Ball and Bob O’Connell

  • Rebuilt website allowing for improved expandability, better search engine optimization, and in-house staff editing
  • New features include photos, online shopping, events, video, survivor stories, volunteer calendar, online media room, Spanish page, financial statements, and annual report
  • Three professionals joined the LifeSpark board representing the following organizations:  Denver Health Medical Center, Rocky Mountain PBS, NorthHighland, an international consulting firm
  • Strategic Planning Intensive by full board and staff focused on fundraising and long-range planning
  • Received a $20,000 challenge match from anonymous donor to encourage new sources of income, first-time donors, and increased donations from existing donors.  Funding will stabilize and strengthen income base
