Over the years, LifeSpark has worked out of many medical facilities—each one a reminder that healing doesn’t depend on perfect surroundings, but on the calm and compassion we bring to the moment.
I remember when the Foothills Hospital in Boulder was brand new. They welcomed us into their beautiful, half-empty space to provide Reiki and Healing Touch sessions for LifeSpark cancer patients. As the hospital filled, we were moved several times—sometimes into rooms not quite built for stillness. One time, our provider’s session space was right next to the MRI machine. The entire room would vibrate when the machine started up, accompanied by humming and pulsing noises. When I checked in with the LifeSpark provider, he told me he simply prepared the participant ahead of time, then stayed grounded and held the energy steady through the disruption. “The session went on,” he said, “no matter the distractions.”
Another time, one of our providers arrived at a medical office building only to find the space completely emptied overnight after a management change. Showing the grace and adaptability that define our team, she borrowed a chair from a nearby office and gave the session right there in the empty room. Her participant received the care she came for, even without the usual table or furnished space.
At Swedish Medical Center, we were given a patient examination room for our sessions—a space we used for three years. Our providers turned that small exam room into a sanctuary—dim lights, soft music, a pillow on the exam table. When the overhead pagers blared, they stayed centered and continued the healing work, knowing that calm can exist even in the heart of a busy medical center.
As I look back on twenty years of LifeSpark’s history, these moments stand out not for the chaos, but for the peace our providers carried through it. Their presence transformed ordinary rooms into healing spaces, proving that stillness and compassion are stronger than any disruption.
There is nothing that makes me more proud than the incredible Reiki and Healing Touch providers who give of themselves with such grace, love, and professionalism. To witness a group of people who consistently bring peace into the midst of noise—that is the true essence of LifeSpark.
For twenty years, we’ve adapted to every space and situation imaginable—from quiet corners to hospital corridors—and through it all, the joy of this work has sustained us. As we look to the next twenty years, our mission remains the same: to bring peace, connection, and healing wherever they are needed most.
Our next 20 years begin now—join us in bringing peace and healing wherever they’re needed most.
