The Lasting Connections Behind the Sessions

One of the most meaningful parts of LifeSpark’s work is the relationships that quietly grow through weeks of Reiki and Healing Touch sessions. Sometimes those connections continue long after treatment ends — often in unexpected ways.

LifeSpark provider Blair Chandler recently shared this reflection after reconnecting with a former participant.

I ran into a woman I supported through numerous sessions as a Healing Touch and Reiki practitioner and volunteer with LifeSpark several years ago, during her cancer treatment. Long after our LifeSpark sessions had concluded, we unexpectedly crossed paths again.  She knew she knew me, but couldn’t place me. I spoke my name, and everything came back. Ah, yes… you. And we smiled.

I wasn’t offended; it wasn’t personal. It actually made me smile because I realized she no longer resonated with all she experienced during treatment. That was no longer her reality. I celebrate that.

As she embraces the present, I had become part of her past. And that felt like something beautiful.

And yet… there we were… excited to reconnect in a fresh new way. We made a tea date and caught up.

Two women sharing laughter and life updates the day after the Bolder Boulder… still energized from the experience. Our new chapters had so much in common — a love of life, travel, gratitude, and human connection.

Here’s to bonds that weave through time. Here’s to keeping our hearts open and soft. And here’s to noticing and acting on the quiet magic all around us.

At LifeSpark, healing is not only about reducing stress or easing side effects during cancer treatment. Sometimes it is also about connection, presence, and the lasting human relationships that can grow along the way.
