2019 – A year of collaboration

By Sandy Priester, Executive Director

LifeSpark continues to bring peace and healing to individuals with cancer.  In 2019, we served over 500 individuals with cancer and their caregivers with over 2,300 Reiki and Healing Touch sessions.

In addition, in 2019, we expanded our program into Loveland and Ft Collins. Services are now available from Ft Collins to Colorado Springs.

Hospital partners

  • Denver Health Medical Center is our longest standing medical partner; we began offering LifeSpark sessions in their facility in 2005.  We serve a very diverse population of cancer patients at this Level I Trauma Center in downtown Denver.
  • UCHealth Anschutz Cancer Center. We began this relationship in late 2017, and since then, have delivered 1,278 Reiki and Healing Touch sessions to patients receiving chemo in their Infusion Center, as well as 172 sessions to their oncology nurses and staff.
  • Memorial Hospital Cancer Center. We continue in our sixth year of service to their cancer patients at this Colorado Springs hospital.

Other partner locations

  • Elements Massage: Four years of partnership, and 14 studio locations where we provide sessions during their non-busy times.
  • Churches: We are grateful for relationships with Atonement Lutheran Church, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, First United Methodist Church, Green Mt United Methodist Church, St. Lawrence Episcopal Church, and Wellshire Presbyterian Church.
  • Other locations for LifeSpark sessions include Living Well Health Group in Loveland, Dignity Care in Boulder, and Jantala Thai Massage Spa in Denver.

Outreach Events

  • LifeSpark participated in wellness fairs at the UCHealth Anschutz Cancer Center in June, September, and November, as well as at an ITEX Colorado holiday fair in November.  LifeSpark providers delivered 71 Reiki and Healing Touch sessions to attendees at these fairs.

Poster Presentation

  • In September, we delivered a poster presentation at the Colorado Cancer Coalition’s Annual Symposium on the results of our outcomes survey data.
We are so grateful to so many people, organizations, and businesses who supported our work. We could not have done it without you.
