Reiki, deep forgiveness, and gratitude: Donna’s cancer journey

By Deborah Fox

For the last 47 years, Donna Grant has been in medical Imaging. When she retired from that field, she still had a strong desire to be of service to others. She has been an energy healer nearly all of her life, she says, so it seemed natural to continue.

Having heard about LifeSpark through other providers, Donna started with LifeSpark as a Reiki provider in 2019 and wanted to continue using her medical background (although indirectly) by providing Reiki remotely using Zoom. Over five years, she worked with nearly a dozen different cancer patients, giving them weekly LifeSpark sessions.

Then, her plans changed a bit: In 2023, she was diagnosed with colon cancer. Right away, she knew that Reiki is beneficial for those with cancer and could help her.

From the beginning, she was clear that Reiki healing was a gift for cancer patients. “The gift offers them a safe space to be surrounded with love and allows the Reiki energy to work with their bodies, minds, and emotions. It is a sacred service.“

Now, it was her turn to receive the energy. She knew it was vital in preparing herself for the upcoming surgery and that it could empower the surgeon and all the other healthcare workers to be present and at their peak performance. “I felt so much gratitude for those who stepped forward and offered me this healing energy.”

Post-surgery, she surprisingly had no pain. “I very quickly knew my body had done the work. I had a deep sense of peace, not allowing fear but gratitude to be ever present in myself. I did what I needed to do for the best outcome.”

A process that Donna started before surgery and continued after was deep forgiveness. “I ask for deep forgiveness for any that I had hurt and forgiveness for those that had wounded me. It has awakened in me a deeper sense of my own healing nature and a knowing that others can be helped with this knowledge.’

“Everything is Energy. I visualize a spring that keeps flowing and never goes dry.” She is very grateful for what she has received and for the opportunity to continue this service for others. “It is such a deep honor to work with the LifeSpark cancer participants.”

Donna has a message for other LifeSpark providers.  “You offer true compassion, love, blessing, and healing! THANK YOU.”
